Evaluation Summary

49 participants from the disciplines of medical and nursing education and research and related business groups attended the workshop, including 9 from SUMMIT and 9 who participated from South Korea via the web.  6 participants completed an open-ended evaluation form at the end of the three-day workshop, resulting in a response rate of 19%.

Participants’ comments are summarized below:
1. What did you find most valuable about the workshop?

    • One person said “Everything” and two commented specifically about the “talks/presentations”

    • “The collections of people”
    • “Mixture of developers and clinicians”
    • “Meeting with medical professionals/doctors”
    • “Developer session”
    • “Getting insight into other people’s work/simulators/technologies”
    • “Brainstorming projects”
    • “The community being built”

2. What did you find least interesting or unclear?

    • Two said “Nothing”
    • One said “Technical programming tour”
    • One said “The other non-SPRING applications”
    • One said “small group discussions; would have preferred more details on how to write first real simulation in SPRING”
    • One said “It seemed like everyone at Stanford doing anything related was asked to present”

3. Did you feel actively involved in the workshop?
Positive comments:

    • Six participants said “Yes”

Specific comments:

    • “Because it was a fairly small group”
    • “Opportunity for questions and group work”

4. What have you learned that you can use in your work?

    • Two said “what is included in SPRING and the other platforms”

Additional comments:

    • “More insight in other tools and interaction with MDs”
    • “The state of some medical groups”
    • “Some collaboration ideas”
    • “Details of what drives simulation developers and how those match with clinical/education needs”

5. What follow up questions do you have?

    • Two participants said “None”
    • One said “How to collaborate with MDs” 

6. Suggestions to improve the workshop:

    • One said “Have separate med and tech session in which each have goals to work towards”  
    • One said “Have a yearly workshop”
